Getting a head start

It's a pun, guys.  Because I replaced a starter today.  HILARIOUS.

Anyway, fall is fast approaching which makes it wonderful driving weather.  Unfortunately, my current starter is just about to eat it.  When it is too hot, it hardly turns over and when it is too cold, it hardly turns over.   When it is nice and warm out?  Hardly turns over.

Changing a starter on the Beast is easier than an oil change.

Step 1: Disconnect battery, disconnect starter wire.

Step 2: Remove the two bolts holding the starter on.

Step 3: Remove starter.

Step 4: Admire how old starter even worked in the first place.

Step 5: Look at kick ass new starter.

Step 6: Install new starter.  Scoff at how easy it was.
Step 7: Admire how fast engine turns over with new starter
Step 8: Listen to Jim as he tells you to cut the engine immediately for some reason....
Step 9: Hear how sparks were flying from your Alternator....
Step 10:  Shrug it off because you have a new alternator already being shipped.

So yeah, there seems to be some issues with the ignition setup.  Fortunately, I have a brand new alternator being shipped from PA Performance and it is already on its way.  I will also redo my battery/wiring/ignition setup so it is less....spark/fire prone.

Next Friday/Sunday I will hopefully have a lot of pictures of the new alternator setup.

ALSO!

My new toy arrive guys:

Hell yeah!  I will begin installing it immediately.
This will require:
  • Plumbing a return line
  • Welding a 02 wideband bung in
  • Installing new fuel pump and regulator
  • Replacing current fuel hoses with EFI rated hose.
  • More wiring.  (YAY)
More to come.

It's a slow month.

Shameless cat/football picture to take up space.

Welp, no new car stuff.

Wouldn't you know it, I've actually been busy with work related stuff and a lot of house projects. Winter is coming in and I'm trying to wrap a bunch of stuff up before the car finds a home in the garage (to be worked on more).

The good news is I will hopefully have the Easy EFI kit sooner than later.  So there is that.

Also, I may need to get a starter in sooner than later as well.  She isn't starting so quickly lately.

October may be a bit of a dry-car month for me so my apologies if you were looking for more car dirt.  I will pop in a bit though to keep everyone posted with car progress.
